Thought I'd confirm that yes, it's been well dodgy today. Just a few minutes ago it was giving me load readings of over 20, which sadly is exactly what I've been hoping to get away from by switching hosts.

Nice setup here BTW.
Well it is good to know that it is not just us... Thanks for the compliments and the post! Hope you will choose to stick around.

I just checked the server load and it's 14.89 (2 CPU's) What is weird is that ever since I moved to the new server, it's been under 0.70 for quite some time. This is the first time I've ever seen it this high.

Are you on the semi-dedicated plan or??

2 minutes later..

Just hit refresh and it's down to 2.0, and dropping.

4 minutes later.

Under 1.2 and dropping.

Good.

Perhaps in the switching, the server is crossing both sites' wires?

I suppose there could be some sort of maintenance or some such going on, but you'd think they would do that at off-peak times...

I also suppose someone else who is on our server could be eating massive amounts of cycles... That would suck.

It wouldn't really be a matter of crossing... If another site on the same server starts to overload the server, it will effect everyone on the server...

We're on the semi dedicated plan yes. We are sat on the same server as you.

However, it is categorically not us causing the load issues.

Quite apart from the fact that our site is no busier than yours, at the present moment our live site has not been transferred, it's still with our old hosts. All we have on this server is a test board, with one user online - me.

So it's certainly nothing I've done.

I have to say it's making me have second thoughts about switching, seeing as this is exactly the kind of problem we're trying to get away from.

I wonder if there is something Wirenine can do? Like maybe put us on a less busy server... I don't know...

Both of your opinions could be the exact 2 problems causing the high server load.

I've been hitting refresh and the server load is now at it's normal low state. I guess starting at (10:40)ish AM today, to now (12:50PM), something was up with the server.

Again, this it the first time I've noticed a problem since switching to the new server. I'm not going to complain.
