So it's certainly nothing I've done.

I have to say it's making me have second thoughts about switching, seeing as this is exactly the kind of problem we're trying to get away from.
No worries brother... I didn't really think it was you...

Just curious, how did you find us?

I've been hitting refresh and the server load is now at it's normal low state. I guess starting at (10:40)ish AM today, to now (12:50PM), something was up with the server.

Again, this it the first time I've noticed a problem since switching to the new server. I'm not going to complain.
I wonder if this would happen if someone was doing a massive file transfer to or from the server...

I see what you mean. It surely is not your web site...not sure who though.

I'm still going to stay with WireNine. They have always been helpful and they will tell you what was up with the server if you ask them on their online community. Ali is very helpful there.

Do you have AIM? It would be good to have you on my contact list considering we are on the same server...Well I'm off to my next class, but I'll be back here in 1.5 hours.

Originally it was via the host's testimonials thread on their own forum. We had a nose about the site to see if it was fast enough for what we wanted as that was the hosting plan we were looking at.

We took the plunge and then realised we had the very same server.

But since setting up the test site on Saturday I have to say we're not 100% convinced we're going to solve anything by switching to this host, sadly.

That's what I'm guessing at..

Shit happens and this is the first time anything wrong has happened since the transfer to the semi-dedicated plan. So overall, it's been very reliable. I have had many hosts in the past and my sites were down quite a lot in a given amount of time. With WireNine, it's rare to see downtime.

Is there a way to find out who all is on the same server? That might be a good T/S start... I host several sites on Wirenine, and I have no problems at all... I suspect it is this server...

Well it could cause it, but it would have to be a lot of massive files....we transferred all our files and database on Saturday and the server did not even blink, this despite the whole lot being over 1.5gb.

On my current host it always seems to be one of two things:

1) Rogue scripts running that don't close properly and gradually consume all the resources
2) Less commonly, attempted dDoS attacks on the server.

Either one of those could turn into nasty business...

You can get some details from Whois . sc ....

My site isn't there yet as the domain hasn't been moved, but from searching on your domain there I get the following info:
  1. Defendingthetruth.com
  2. Jon-kingsbury.com
  3. Umassrepublicans.org
Nothing particularly heavy on any of those other two that I can see.
