You are a good looking guy (I mean that in a non-gay way). Two questions:

I want to get my wife a new laptop - doesn't need to be the most powerful but fast on the internet. Any recommendations?

Have my premium membership privledges kicked in yet? Me paid last night. I want to know when I can start pushing people around.

I ought to send you the one I'm on now. It's an extra that I keep in front of the tube when I'm relaxing. Compaq 1.4 Mhz 1 gig mem 40mb XP. It's a good basic setup. You can get a Copaq 1.8 1G 80mb laptop for less than $400 now though.

lol..thank you pn.

Actually this makes for a good discussion. Tomorrow i'll likely be buying a laptop for work (around $500). If you are planning on getting her a laptop w/ Vista, make sure it has at least 1GB of ram.., even more is better! As an example: Newegg.com - HP 530 (GU330AT#ABA) NoteBook Intel Celeron M 420(1.60GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 512MB DDR2 667 80GB 5400rpm DVD/CD-RW Combo Intel GMA950 - Retail If you read the user reviews, 512mb of ram surely doesn't cut it for Vista.

Are you looking to get her a laptop with XP or Vista??

haha If I gave away powers for $$, the forums would likely be a disaster (not against you...) I remember we once had a member who donated daily and try to get away with things...that surely didn't work out.

How's the Advertisement free environment?? Much cleaner eh?

I've got a question for you that's been bugging me for 4 months. Do you know a way to get XP and Vista to play nice together on a network? I can share my dialup connection and printers from an XP machine to a Vista machine, but not the other way around, and forget sharing drives between either machine. I finally went out and bought a printer with an RJ45 connection on it because I was tired of moving the USB printer back and forth. I consider myself a little more educated than the average person when it comes to this sort of stuff, and I have been all over Vista's control panel. I can't seem to figure it out. Any tips you could offer?

We have Vista on our work computers and have had problems. Particularly with programs that won't run. We've had problems with getting printer drivers to function properly.

What is the advantage of Vista anyway? Is it wise to go ahead a buy a new computer with Vista so it will be compatible with any new shit that comes out in the next few years?

The ads never really bothered me that much. I just felt I should contribute something to your site as long as I'm a regular poster.
