Electric Car - What if you crash?
Don't get me wrong, I am all for alternative types of energy/fuel, however I haven't heard much debate about what would happen if someone were to crash in an electric car?

Hmm. I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. What concerns do you have, versus having a crash in a gas-powered car?

Well, you'd still need to take it to a mechanic and/or body shop for repairs.
But you wouldn't have to worry about a gas tank explosion.

It would probably be safer than crashing in a vehicle that is producing thousands of controlled explosions per minute, and is filled with HAZMAT.

Is your concern someone being shocked? Believe me, the risks would be far less than the risks of being burned.

Not shocked.. The power produced by the electric cars would kill someone instantly.. Not every car accident results in a fire.. (even if the engine is damaged in the accident).

Direct current is dangerous at high amps, in conventional application of a car battery if you cross the terminals with a conductor the battery can explode. The batteries in an electric car would have to protected in some manner to prevent a direct circuit between terminals or it could be dangerous equal to exploding gas tank.

You can connect batteries together noting the amps of each battery and use them to weld with by connecting welding terminals to the neg-positive terminals without damaging the batteries but if you complete a hard circuit heat builds up rapidly resulting in explosion if the batteries have a full charge.

I think this dude cried.

Tesla Crash! | Autopia from Wired.com

Crashing the 6th Tesla hours after delivery, not sure if he cried because it's #6 of 10 built so far or because it has a $109,000 price tag!

ouch.....it didn't explode though
