I was in school and for some reason had to go to the school office just as the news was breaking on television.

I remember it well because I was shocked by a room full of adults just crying and staring at the events unfolding on television.

I was 8 years old.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this. That's why I support the Pickens Plan. Check out the website at www.pickensplan.com. If you like what you see, please join me as a Pickens Plan supporter.

I was three, and don't remember it.

I guess "where were you when the 11 September attacks happened?" will be the question most posters here will be able to answer for the rest of our lives.

Yeah, we have had a thread about that in the past.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

What I remember most about MLK was he making a lot of speeches while trying to do something what he felt was the right thing to do: and that is for white America (of which I am) to stop hating the African-Americans (and I know a few who do).

After he was shot, I can remember Chet Huntley of NBC news doing a 1-hour or 30-minute special on MLK. He tearfully said good night when he finished.

I learned more about MLK long after what happened in Memphis. The only time I talked about MLK with another fellow, who was also white, was that we both agreed that he was a good man.

It is a shame that Gov. Wallace of Alabama didn't see it that way.

I was in grade school. Many tears as the news broke that the president had been shot. The clear news of his death was not revealed by the teachers in our school. I do recall that all schoolwork ceased for the rest of that day.

Martin Luther King. I recall clearly the riots that ensued. We lived in Southern California the atmosphere was very stiff in many areas. As children my best friend and I did not understand. We knew we did not care what color we were but it sure made a difference to some of the adults around us.

I remember the riots after MLK. Thank God we didn't have any riots in San Diego.
