I wasn't born when JFK and Dr. King were murdered. As for RFk, I was 7 months old. But all three of those men's lives had a profound effect on me, and I'm glad to have been influenced by their sacrifices.

I was about four years away from my parents having the particular episode of sex during which my conception took place.

I was in my livingroom watching TV and the news flash came on. I was only three but remember how upset I was. Even at that age I knew he was a great man. I cried and so did my Mom. I think that was my first experience with death and it scared the crap out of me.

I really couldn't tell you where I was when MLK was shot. I remember seeing it the next day on TV but I really didn't know who he was yet.

I'm really not sure about Bobby either. I know I cried then too but don't remember the details. Long time ago.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour

There are many men of principle in both parties in America, but there is no party of principle. ~Alexis de Tocqueville

I learned about RFK the next day. Somehow, I asked my dad who the assasin was. In my mind, the name Sirhan Sirhan came up, and my dad confirmed it. I just wondered why I guessed that name. It was too easy. My dad was in the newspaper business.

I was watching a soap opera when the "SPECIAL BULLETIN" came through. I thought, "Now what??!!" While they were giving the report, I picked up the phone to call my parents. When my step-father answered the phone, I said "Turn on your television set! The president has been shot!" He said, "That's not even funny." I said, "It's not meant to be. He's been shot!" and he said, "Oh, my God!!"
