Well duh!!! that's the whole idea. Talk to your liberal friends who control the education department.

I'm not desperate to gut anything.

I want better public education. And that is NOT going to happen so long as the ultra-liberal, ultra-stupid NEA has a stranglehold monopoly on public education in America.

Again, why are you so ANTI-CHOICE when it comes to public education? You're wanting to coddle the public schools that SUCK, so that they can all keep their jobs their not doing, while not being forced to improve. WAKE UP. REAL LIFE DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY.

There is absolutely no reason to believe that the public schools will be empty - even though you're clearly afraid of that, because you know that many public schools SUCK.

Our daughter, who will be in high school this year, will be attending a PUBLIC Magnet School that draws kids from a 50-mile radius - BECAUSE THEY HAVE HIGHLY ACCLAIMED TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PROGRAMS.

Stop being anti-choice about public education!

Have you even bothered to think what the effects will be on the schools as you take money out of them?


So WHY haven't you talked about any solutions which remove the "NEA stranglehold" from the public education system???

All you talk about is VOUCHERS and that is it.

You have a choice currently.
I am against trying to put a NON-WORKABLE solution in as a pretended "workable".

Why are you so against looking at whether or not your solution will ACTUALLY WORK???

It's funny how you talk about how private schools are better, yet when it comes down to saying WHAT WILL HAPPEN when we make the "better" alternative free, then you pretend that we'll have people sticking around for the public schools.

I think we all want better schools. The way we do that is the problem you seem to have. Do you know how you get rid of incompetent people you can't fire? You take away all their responsibilty and leave them with nothing to do and then you eliminate their job. Bingo. No more incompetents kept on the payroll by a corrupt union.

That is what they would want to do if they controlled the education department.

I disagree. The union controls the education department. If they cared about quality eduation more than keeping their unqualified teachers for votes and money, then you would see change. That is why things keep getting worse. 1/3 of the nation's high school students drop out. Something's wrong and it aint George Bush's fault.

This is EXACTLY what happens when schools are made to compete! Figure it out!

Of course it isn't Bush's fault but he certainly hasn't helped the situation. If you look at the budget for our military and the budget for our public schools I think you will find the true problem. I think our teachers are doing their "damndest" to enlighten students on a daily basis, without fair compensation, but they are fighting an uphill battle as good teachers move to higher paying jobs.

A good and fair public education system only requires two things to solve:
1) Make sure every school offers the same resources to its students regardless of location
2) Pay teachers a lot more (what they are worth)
